Welcome to the new Leash Law Advocates of Santa Cruz County web site!
Many of us have been active for some time in advocating for enforcement of existing leash laws. Recently, a vocal minority of dog owners has tried to convince the Santa Cruz County Animal Services and the SCC Board of Supervisors to allow off-leash dog hours at two local beaches. This effort began after dog owners became used to allowing their dogs to run off-leash on area beaches with impunity, when County Animal Services stopped enforcing County leash laws. When Animal Services officers recently started to enforce leash laws, some dog owners began a campaign to weaken County leash laws.
LLASCC (pronounced "LASSIE") is our attempt to provide accurate and up to date information to anyone interested in maintaining leash laws that provide for the health and safety of our pets, as well as the comfort and safety of all visitors to our beaches and public places.
